Why I started Total Financial Freedom and wrote this book
I wanted to be able to sleep at night.
People often ask me why I chose a career in debt relief. My answer is always the same: I wanted to be able to sleep at night.
Early in my career, I worked for one of the nation's largest debt collection agencies. I was hired as a Bigger Balance Case Manager, collecting on behalf of one of America's most recognizable financial institutions. Every day, I spoke with people who weren't irresponsible — they were overwhelmed. Behind almost every account was a story: a lost job, an unexpected medical emergency, a divorce, or another life event that had turned manageable debt into a financial crisis.
As I gained experience, I advanced into management and learned the inner workings of the credit and collections industry. While the experience was invaluable, I couldn't ignore what I was hearing from the people on the other end of the phone. Many weren't looking for sympathy — they were looking for someone who could explain their options and help them find a realistic path forward.

The decision that changed my career
That realization changed the course of my career. Instead of helping creditors collect debt, and seemingly egregious fees and interest, I wanted to help consumers eliminate it. I believed my education, training, and experience could be used to restore hope rather than add more financial pressure. That belief led me to found Total Financial Freedom.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of helping thousands of individuals and families regain control of their finances. Along the way, I discovered something important: debt is rarely just about money. It affects marriages, families, careers, physical health, mental well-being, and a person's sense of dignity. I've watched hardworking, honest people carry an enormous burden of guilt and stress simply because they never had the opportunity to learn how the financial system really works.
"Reducing debt is only half the solution."
Without understanding budgeting, interest, credit, financial habits, and the psychology behind money, many people eventually find themselves right back where they started. Lasting financial freedom requires both a strategy and an education.

Helping people, on and off the field
Helping people has always been important to me, both professionally and personally. Outside of my work, I've spent years coaching Little League baseball, where I've had the privilege of mentoring young athletes not only in the fundamentals of the game, but also in teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and character. Whether I'm coaching on the field or helping a family overcome financial challenges, the goal is the same: to teach, encourage, and help people develop the confidence to succeed.
I've discovered the greatest rewards in life rarely come from what we accomplish for ourselves — they come from helping others reach their potential. That philosophy has guided my career, my community involvement, and ultimately the reason I wrote this book.
My goal isn't simply to help you lower your debt. My goal is to give you the knowledge and confidence to make sound financial decisions for the rest of your life. Whether you're overwhelmed by credit card balances, struggling to keep up with monthly payments, or simply looking to build a stronger financial future, I want this book to become a resource you'll return to whenever you need guidance.
Financial freedom isn't reserved for the wealthy, the lucky, or the financially gifted. It's available to ordinary people who are willing to learn, develop a plan, and take consistent action.

It came from listening
I was fortunate to study business and finance, including time at Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy, and later New York Law School. Those experiences gave me a strong academic foundation in finance, contracts, and consumer issues. But the greatest education I ever received didn't come from a classroom.
It came from listening — to thousands of people sharing their stress and fears, their setbacks, and their hopes for a better future. Those conversations taught me lessons no textbook ever could. They reminded me that behind every balance sheet is a human being, and behind every debt is a story.

My hope is that this book becomes part of your story — not as a reminder of your financial struggles, but as the beginning of your financial transformation. No matter how your "financial figure" looks today, your current situation does not have to define the rest of your life. I hope these pages provide not only practical strategies, but also something even more valuable:
Hope.
